An LED screen is a flat panel display that uses light-emitting diodes (AKA LEDs) to produce eye-catching images or videos. LED screens are made up of tiny LEDs that are grouped together to make pixels that emit light when they have an electric current passed through them.

LED screens are used for a number of different applications across different industries including for advertising, digital signage, TV displays and large-scale outdoor displays. LED screens are a popular choice thanks to their brightness, durability, energy efficiency and the ability for them to come in a range of different sizes and shapes!

The main difference between indoor and outdoor LED screens is their ability to withstand different temperatures and conditions. Indoor LED screens generally have a higher resolution and are made to be viewed closer up whereas outdoor LED screens are made to withstand harsh weather conditions like rain, direct sunlight, wind and temperature fluctuations.

Outdoor LED screens are also often much bigger and much brighter and use weatherproof materials that their indoor counterparts don’t use.

When it comes to LED vs LCD, an easy thing to remember is that LCD is the broader category and LED fits underneath that. This means that all LED displays are LCDs – but not all LCDs are LED.

Whilst LEDs are made up of light emitting diodes, LCDs are made up of millions of pixels made from liquid crystals. Whilst both LEDs and LCDs have vibrant colours and can display high-res images, LED displays tend to be a more energy efficient choice than other LCD displays.

LED Mesh, sometimes called LED curtain or LED net is a flexible and lightweight LED display technology that uses interconnected LED modules arranged in a mesh grid. These modules can be easily folded, rolled or curved so that you can create custom LED shapes and designs.

LED mesh is suitable for both flat and curved surfaces and is often used for stage backdrops, event branding, outdoor displays and creative installations due to its versatility, transparency and ability to create engaging and interesting visual effects!

A 3D LED screen is a display that creates the illusion of depth and allows for the display of 3D images without requiring viewers to wear special glasses. 3D LED screens are able to display 3D images that can be viewed with the naked eye to capture the attention of the audience and enhance the overall viewing experience.

3D LED screens work by showing slightly different images to each eye to help create an illusion of depth. This is achieved by using specialised optics – like parallax barriers or lenticular lenses – that direct separate images to each eye, the brain then combines these images to create the illusion of depth and viola! You have a 3D viewing experience without having to wear special glasses!

Digital signage is a type of electronic display that is used to help convey information, advertise products, provide entertainment or send messages to a target audience. Digital signage typically consists of LCD, LED or projection screens connected to a content management system that allows you to update, upload and schedule content to be displayed on your signage.

Digital signage is often used across a range of different industries, you’ll commonly see digital signage in retail spaces, airports, restaurants, corporate meeting rooms and public areas to help deliver information or advertising materials in a dynamic and engaging way.

LED pixel pitch is the distance between the centre of one LED pixel to the centre of an adjacent LED pixel on an LED display screen. It's measured in millimetres and it helps to determine the resolution and clarity of the image that will be displayed on the screen.

Smaller pixel pitch means you’ll get sharper, more detailed and higher-resolution displays whilst a larger pixel pitch may not be able to show as much fine detail in the image. LED displays that have smaller pixel pitches are typically used for applications that need closer viewing, like indoor displays or HD video walls whilst LED screens with larger pixel pitches are better suited for outdoor displays or large-scale signage where the viewer won’t be quite as close.
